Islamic Madrassah in Contemporary Ages
Need & Importance

From day first, Islam preaches to learn and disperse knowledge. That’s why the concept of Madrassah (Islamic school) emerges from early ages of Islamic History. In fact, in Hira Cave, the first holy message from Allah Almighty to his Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) enlightens the highest status of knowledge. It’s not ambiguous if we consider Hira Cave as First Islamic University where the student was our Prophet (peace be upon him) and teacher was indirectly Allah Almighty. Hira Cave can be named ‘Iqra University’ Additionally, ‘Dar-e-Arqam’ and ‘Suffa’ can be considered as regular institute in Makki & Madni period respectively.

After Nabuwat, Madrassah had a pivotal role in Islamic History. Even in contemporary ages, the need and importance of Madrassah is well established. Following points best describes the importance of Madrassah in current years:

  1. Madrassah offers key role in the spreading of Islamic education.

  2. Madrassah produces Ulamaa of such caliber who nourish the needs of religio-spiritual supremacy of Ummah through their God gifted abilities.

  3. Beyond religio-spiritual needs, even in our social circle we feel great need of guidance & services of our Ulamaa. They cover whole span of our life starting from reciting Azan in the ears of new born ending in the Namaz-e-Jinaza and Law of Inheritance. Above all, Nikah is such a superb institution which becomes foundation stone of our family system.
Betterment of society, education of masses and peacemaking also require active involvement of Madrassah.

  4. Summarizing above, the need of Madrassah in our today’s life is as essential as in all Islamic eras. Moreover, it’s our responsibility that we should offer our best services and abilities for the establishment & progress of Madrassah and fully cooperate in its growth.
